Reed Library: Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary Loan

Questions? Call 716-673-3184 or email library.loan@fredonia.edu.

It is the goal of Interlibrary Loan to locate and acquire, whenever possible, a wide variety of materials considered to be essential components of the educational and research needs of our college community. The I.L.L. department is responsible for lending materials owned by Reed Library to other institutions. Reed Library's I.L.L. policy complies with all American Library Association guidelines and the copyright law of the United States (Title 17, U.S. Code).

Currently enrolled students, faculty, and staff. Others should use the services of their public library.

Loans are free unless we are charged by the lending institution. When there is a charge, we will contact you before ordering the material to see if you will be willing to pay for it. All borrowers pay the cost for overdue fines they incur.

Set up an account by using the Interlibrary Loan Request Form. Once your ILLiad account is established you can request material that is not in the Reed Library collection, and we will request the material for you from other libraries. Journal articles will be delivered to you electronically using your campus email account. Books and other materials, such as videos, scores, DVDs, CDs, or microfilm will be available for you to pick up at the library's circulation desk. If you submit more than 5 requests simultaneously, please prioritize them, using the "notes" field on the online form.

Please allow 7-10 days for processing book requests and 3-6 days for article requests, depending on the time of year and item availability.

You will be notified via campus email when your material has arrived. Journal articles will be sent to your campus email, allowing you to print, view or download the material. All other materials can be picked up at the Reed-To-Go table located in front of the Circulation Desk.

The loan period and renewal options are determined by the lending library. To check the due date for an item or renew it, see the Renew page on Reed Library's website.

All materials borrowed through Interlibrary Loan may be returned to the Circulation Desk or a Reed Library book drop. All borrowers pay the cost, including processing fees, for materials they lose or damage. All borrowers pay the cost for overdue fines they incur. Reed Library can suspend borrowing and library privileges until overdue Interlibrary Loan items are returned.
