SUNY Fredonia uses the Library of Congress Classification System (LCC) to assign call numbers to most print materials--books, periodicals, and music scores.
The Library of Congress Classification System is divided into large subject areas which are called "classes." All classes--and subclasses--begin with one, two, or three letters followed by a number which represents more specific aspects of a subject.
This page shows you how to read a call number and lists call number ranges for women's and gender studies materials.
Books on women's and gender studies have call numbers starting with HQ 1 and ending with HQ 2044:
LC Call Numbers | Description |
---|---|
HQ12 → 449 | Sexual life |
HQ19 → 30.7 | Sexual behavior and attitudes. Sexuality |
HQ75 → 76.8 | Homosexuality. Lesbianism |
HQ503 → 1064 | The family. Marriage. Home |
HQ1101 → 2030.7 | Women. Feminism |
These books are located on the first floor of the Carnahan-Jackson Center.
