Following the ACRL Framework, we integrate information literacy into our curriculum to foster reflective discovery, the understanding of how information is produced and valued, and the use of information in creating new knowledge and participating ethically in communities of learning.
This work cannot be done in isolation from the larger campus community. We work closely with faculty and campus partners to establish a robust curriculum to help develop information literacy skills among all our students. Information literacy remains a key competency within Fredonia's General Education Curriculum.
The ACRL Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education comprises six frames and integrates universally applicable threshold concepts. Frames are not sequential but rather are overlapping core concepts. These concepts foster the development of new perspectives and modes of understanding.
Librarians are available to assist in research assignment design and can help identify ways to infuse information literacy into your assignments while aligning with your own specific learning outcomes.
