Library Instruction Services: Reed Essentials (FREDLearn Badges)

Reed Library is excited to introduce Reed Essentials, a series of digital badge courses designed to enhance students' academic and professional skills. These self-paced courses are hosted in FREDLearn and offer students the chance to earn digital badges that can be shared with instructors.

How It Works:

  • Instructors can assign these courses as part of their curriculum, for extra credit, or as supplementary learning.
  • Students who have already earned a badge can present it as evidence of completion without retaking the course.
  • Each course is designed to be concise and practical, focusing on essential skills that support academic success.

To get started, please submit a response to our request form. You will need to share your course roster for students to be enrolled. Please email Christina.Hilburger@fredonia.edu with any questions.

AI Literacy Badge

Duration: 2–2.5 hours

Description: This non-technical course introduces key AI concepts, including fundamentals, ethical considerations, and practical applications. Students will learn how AI impacts society and develop skills for responsible AI use. The course aligns with SUNY’s revised information literacy outcomes, helping students effectively evaluate and ethically use AI tools. Completion earns an AI Literacy badge.
