SUNY Fredonia uses the Library of Congress Classification System (LCC) to assign call numbers to most print materials--books, periodicals, and music scores.
The Library of Congress Classification System is divided into large subject areas which are called "classes." All classes--and subclasses--begin with one, two, or three letters followed by a number which represents more specific aspects of a subject.
This page shows you how to read a call number and lists call number ranges for music theory materials.
Books on music therapy can be found under classes ML and MT:
|LC Call Numbers||Description|
|ML93 → 96.5||Manuscript Studies & Manuscripts|
|ML100 → 109||Dictionaries. Encyclopedias|
|ML112.8 → 158.8||Bibliography|
|ML159 → 3785||History & Criticism|
|ML3797 → 3799.5||Musical Research|
|MT35 → 39||Notation|
|MT90 → 146||Analysis & Appreciation of Musical Works|
The music collection is located on the second floor of Reed Library.
